  BRAZILIAN BLOW DRY /

Brazilian Hair Straightening

Brazilian Hair Straightening (also called Brazilian Keratin, Brazilian Blow Dry, Brazilian Blowout, Escova Progressiva, Keratin Cure) consists in a semi permanent straightening treatment that looses the curl up to 70% (depending on curl pattern/hair texture) and can last between 10  and 16 weeks. This treatment bonds keratin to the outer layer of the hair, which help smooth, protect, soften and relax the hair. In addition, it removes frizz, adds shine and decreases styling time considerably.
There are 2 types of Brazilian Blow Dry Keratin Treatment: With formaldehyde and without formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde is a preservative substance that allows the treatment to stay in the hair for a minimum of 10 weeks. This treatment is recommended for those with thick, course, heavy, frizzy, kinky hair - it lasts slightly longer and it also makes the hair straighter than the one without formaldehyde, more suitable for people with very difficult hair. How the treatment is done: The hair is firstly washed with a deep cleansing shampoo, it is after dried roughly (just to remove water excess), the product is then applied in the entire hair and combed it through. Finally the hair is blow dried and straighten in thin, small sections. The whole procedure should take between an 1h and 30min and 2h and 30min, according to her length/ density. You are not supposed to wash your hair for 3 days (unless your stylist tells you otherwise during consultation).

Best recommended for fine, European, frizzy hair, this treatment reduces volume and contributes with the alignment of the hair shaft, providing extra gloss and softness. It modifies the structure of the hair fibre temporarily while restoring damaged cuticles and filling the areas affected with mass loss, which leaves the hair full-bodied, disciplined, shiny and soft. How the treatment is done: The hair is firstly washed with a deep cleansing shampoo, it is after dried roughly (just to remove water excess), the product is then applied in the entire hair and combed it through. At this point, there is a 20 min pause - after that the hair is washed again to remove the product partially. Finally the hair is blow dried and straighten in thin, small sections. The whole procedure should take between 2 hours and a half & 3 hours, according to her length/ density. You can wash your hair immediately after treatment  (once service is finished hair might feel a bit heavy as part of the product is left in the hair).

It doesn’t matter if the brazilian blow dry has formaldehyde or not, it will alter the tones of previously coloured hair. We advise clients to dye their hair after doing the treatment. However, if you are planing to use bleach, our recommendation is for you to bleach/highlight your hair first and then do the Brazilian treatment.

Brazilian blow dry is not the same as “hair relaxers”. For some types of hair it will require heat to activate the product and make the hair straight. After the treatment the hair is left feeling silky and soft and styling will be very easy & quick.
